FRAUD ALERT: Beware of Calls Impersonating Tampa Bay Federal

We are aware of fraudulent calls currently being made to members that appear to come from Tampa Bay Federal Credit Union. The caller may identify themselves as a Tampa Bay Federal employee or representative from our Fraud Department and claim there is a suspicious transaction on your account.

These calls are not from Tampa Bay Federal.

Tampa Bay Federal’s automated fraud alerts may contact you by text message or an automated phone call. Our fraud alerts do not begin with a live person calling you to report a suspicious transaction.

If you receive a live call claiming to be from Tampa Bay Federal’s Fraud Department:

  • Do not provide personal, account, card, PIN, password or verification code information.
  • Do not follow instructions to transfer money or provide access to your account.
  • Hang up and contact Tampa Bay Federal directly using a trusted phone number or the number listed on our website.

Remember: Caller ID can be spoofed, making a fraudulent call appear to be coming from Tampa Bay Federal.

If you are unsure whether a communication is legitimate, hang up and contact us directly.

Common Warning Signs of Fraud

You may be dealing with a scam if someone:

  • Urges you to act immediately
  • Requests your online banking password or verification codes
  • Asks you to send money using gift cards or payment apps
  • Claims to represent your financial institution and asks for personal information
  • Tells you to keep the request confidential

Tampa Bay Federal will never ask for your online banking password, PIN, or one-time verification codes.
